Tips to Achieve the Wide Application of Water Based Industrial Paints in Working Plants
Substrate treatment
Ø Concrete Base: For concrete walls and floors of new plants, it is necessary to carry out sufficient maintenance and wait until the water content is less than 8% before painting. Use the grinding machine to polish the concrete surface, remove the floating slurry, oil and loose layer, and improve the adhesion between the water-based industrial paint and the grassroots. For the parts with cracks and holes, cement mortar or special repair materials should be used to repair them.
Ø Metal Base: the metal structure in the plant, such as steel beams, steel columns, etc., the surface treatment method is similar to that of bridges, and it should be degreased, descaled and dusted to meet the corresponding cleanliness and roughness requirements.
Primer Coating
Ø Adaptation of paint: choose suitable water-based primer according to the material of grass-roots level and the usage environment. For concrete base, water-based epoxy sealing primer can be used, which can penetrate into the concrete, close the pores, and improve the denseness and adhesion of the grass-roots level; for metal base, water-based epoxy primer or water-based acrylic primer can be used.
Ø Construction operation: the construction of the primer can be sprayed, brushed or rolled. Pay attention to the uniformity of the coating to avoid leakage and hanging. The dry film thickness of the primer is generally 20 - 30μm.
Intermediate and top coatings
Ø Intermediate coating: The function of intermediate coating is to increase the thickness and fullness of the paint film, and improve the abrasion resistance and impact resistance of the coating. Water-based epoxy paint can be used, using scraping or spraying method of construction, dry film thickness is generally 50 - 100μm.
Ø Surface coating: Surface coating should be selected according to the function and requirements of the plant. If it is a general industrial plant, water-based acrylic topcoat can be used, with good weather resistance and decorative; if it is food, medicine and other plants with high hygiene requirements, water-based polyurethane topcoat can be used, with good chemical resistance and easy to clean. The construction method of top coat is the same as that of primer, and the thickness of dry film is generally 30-40μm.
Special Treatments:
Ø Doors, windows, corners and other parts: these parts should be well protected when painting to avoid paint pollution. You can use the patterned paper to cover them, and remove the patterned paper in time after the painting is finished. For the border of doors and windows, can be painted by brushing to ensure that the paint film is uniform.
Ø Ground expansion joints: the ground expansion joints should be filled with elastic sealing material, and then painted with water-based industrial paint to ensure the integrity of the ground and waterproof performance.
